Task03 Regulation

Their are two roles played by the Advertising Standards Authority within the TV advertising industry these are ASA and Ofcom.

ASA are the UK's independent regulator for advertising across all media. They deal with complaints with advertising, for example if the advert is too violent or isn't thought suitable for the public.

Ofcom are the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK Communications industries. They regulate TV, radio, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, etc... They make sure everyone in the UK get the best from their communications services and make sure they're protected from scams.
